Trevor Sullivan

Trevor Sullivan has been involved in the computer industry since the early sixties when he joined IBM. After almost ten years with IBM, he established the European operations of Telex Computer Products, which was later absorbed into Memorex Corporation.

Trevor took on the role of Director of Engineering for Memorex Europe, Middle East and Africa and moved back to Ireland in 1987 to set up Memorex Ireland. During the period of 1987 to 1990, he grew turnover at Memorex Ireland from IR£3m to IR£9.6m.

Trevor has direct experience of almost every operating function of multi-national corporations, including manufacturing, international distribution, engineering, maintenance, planning, sales, product marketing and strategic marketing. Since 1990, he has been working with small companies in Ireland, helping with change and growth management. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to ChangingWorlds, which has proven to be an invaluable asset to the company.

 


 

Thomas Byrnes (BSc, MBA)

Thomas Byrnes lectures in Strategic Management and International Business to MBA and MBS level in UCD. He recently completed a sabbatical in the United States acting as Chief Executive Officer of American Digital Network, an integrated network services provider headquartered in San Diego.

Impressive titles from his varied career include: President and Chief Operating Officer of an inter-exchange carrier in the mid-western U.S.A., Group Executive of Corporate Planning and Information Systems of the Jefferson Smurfit Group, CEO of Telecom Eireann and CEO of IBM Ireland.

Thomas brings extensive international business experience in the IT and Telecommunications sectors.

 


 

John Tracey (BSc, MSc)

John Tracey has been the Chief Executive Officer of Trinity Venture Capital Group since its inception in 1997. In 1989, he moved into venture capital and spent 8 years with ICC Venture Capital where he was investment director. John is an engineer and had previously worked in the semiconductor industry before joining Deloitte as a management consultant. He represents the Group on the boards of Norkom Group plc, Lightstorm Networks, and Shenick. John is a past chairman and current council member of the Irish Venture Capital Association. John holds bachelor and masters degrees in engineering from University College Dublin.

 


 

David P. Moran (BSc, MSc) Chief Executive Officer

As CEO, David is responsible for the strategic direction of the company as well as the day to day operations. He has over 25 years experience in the software, telecommunications and financial services industries. Before joining ChangingWorlds, David spent nineteen years in the U.S.

 

In 2001 David was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of MediaBin Inc, a publicly traded company which provided brand management solutions to Fortune 2000 companies. The company experienced significant revenue growth year-over-year and was subsequently acquired by Interwoven.

 

Prior to this David was recruited by Insight Venture Partners, a leading Venture Capital firm based in New York to assist with the turn-around of two of their portfolio companies. He served as Chief Operating Officer with Eftia OSS Solutions, an Ottawa-based provider of solutions to the telecom industry. As part of the leadership team David help to restructure the operations at Eftia, and developed a go-forward strategy which enabled the company to raise significant additional funding capital.

 

David also held the position of E.V.P. Worldwide Sales for Customer Analytics Inc. a Dallas-based provider of CRM solutions to mid-sized banking institutions. During David's tenure, customer satisfaction, revenue generation and employee productivity levels were significantly improved and the company was subsequently acquired by Exchange Applications Inc.

 

Between 1995 and 2000, David held business and sales management positions of increasing responsibility with Prism Solutions Inc. During that period, Prism Solutions went from a start-up, through an IPO, and was then acquired by Ardent Software.

 

David entered the software industry with Software A.G. a German provider of 4GL and database technology. During his tenure David established and built a highly successful and profitable Professional Services practice across the United States.

 

Prior to entering the software industry, David worked for Morgan Stanley and Co. on Wall Street and Irish Life Assurance plc in Dublin. He holds a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Computer Science from Trinity College, Dublin.

 


Paul Cotter (BSc) - Chief Technical Officer

Paul is responsible for the planning, development and release of products within ChangingWorlds and has been responsible for the development of the award-winning ClixSmart Personalization technology. Paul has more than ten years experience in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Personalization applications and has won numerous international awards in this area. He previously worked as a researcher in the School of Computer Science in University College Dublin. Today he is also responsible for the Innovation Centre within ChangingWorlds.

 


 

Professor Barry Smyth (BSc, PhD) - Chief Scientist

Barry is a leading and renowned researcher in the area of Artificial Intelligence and advanced personalization and has worked in this area for over 12 years.

 

He currently holds a joint appointment with the Department of Computer Science at University College Dublin, where he is Professor of Computer Science and he manages an award-winning research group focusing on adaptive and intelligent information access technologies. Barry has won numerous international awards for his research and has published and presented his work widely.

 


 

Vincent Ryan (BA) - Vice President Sales and Marketing

Vincent has over 20 years of experience in the IT industry. He has been the architect and driver of a number of highly successful international sales and delivery teams. Having started his career with ICL he went on to lead the Sales and Delivery operations in Digital Ireland and Compaq Ireland and his teams were responsible for some of the largest enterprise systems integration projects in a number of European vertical markets in the 90's. Most recently he set up and led Ireland's largest Sun Microsystems Solutions Partner.


Vincent is a graduate of the Department of Genetics, Trinity College Dublin.
