08-02-2006 ChangingWorlds' Global Approach wins DHL Exporter of the Year 2005 Award

 

Dublin, Ireland - February 8th, 2006 - ChangingWorlds has been chosen as the overall winner of the DHL Exporter of the Year 2005 Award. The company is a leading provider of intelligent mobile communication portals and personalisation technology that is deployed by 30 leading mobile network companies worldwide including Vodafone, O2, TeliaSonera and Swisscom Mobile.

 

Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Michéal Martin, TD, formally presented ChangingWorlds with a specially commissioned trophy, EUR5,000 worth of international shipments and a EUR10,000 cheque towards its overseas marketing programme at a ceremony in Dublin today (February 8th 2006).

 

Presenting the 2005 DHL Export Awards, Minister Martin said, "ChangingWorlds and the other four Irish-owned companies receiving awards here today are to be congratulated for their leadership within their sector. I can see that in each case innovation and investment in RandD has been critical to their success and has enabled them to exploit new opportunities and to move on to the next phase of their development."

 

Founded in 1999 to commercialise research carried at University College Dublin, ChangingWorlds' ClixSmart advanced personalisation technology improves the usability of mobile portals by building up a profile for each individual subscriber and automatically adapting the mobile operator's standard service menu to suit the user's changing interests. For instance, a Manchester United fan who frequently downloads information about the club through their mobile device would be presented with a personalised menu with relevant information such as latest results, team news, interviews with players etc.

 

ChangingWorlds' ClixSmart(tm) Intelligent Portal platforms increase mobile data revenue for operators and are used by more than 30 leading mobile network companies worldwide including Vodafone, O2, TeliaSonera, Swisscom Mobile and Mobilkom groups.

ChangingWorlds exports its technology to 30 countries and generates over 90 percent of its annual revenue from export sales.

 

Headquartered in Leopardstown, Dublin, ChangingWorlds has recently opened new offices in San Francisco, USA, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to support its business development activities in North America and Asia respectively. The company employs over 70 staff.

Five companies: Alltracel Pharmaceuticals (Dublin), ChangingWorlds (Dublin), Connemara Seafoods Frozen (Mayo), Datacare Software Group (Monaghan), and Foamalite (Cavan) reached the 2005 Export Award final. This was the twelfth year of the DHL Export Awards, which were established to recognise Irish companies who demonstrate excellence in their exporting efforts. The Awards also aim to develop public awareness of the vital role that small businesses play in the continuing economic development of Ireland.

 

The judging panel for the 2005 DHL Export Awards included Pat Delaney, Small Firms Association; Des Doyle, Enterprise Ireland; John Whelan, Irish Exporters Association; John Dunne, Chambers Ireland, and Bernard McCarthy, DHL.
