ChangingWorlds' co-founder and Chief Scientist Professor Barry Smyth today co-chaired the leading international event on intelligent content recommendations techniques for the Internet - Recommender Systems 2007. In his role as programme co-chair Prof Barry Smyth has helped to develop the conference’s scientific programme which brings a select number of full-length research papers, short research papers and commercial case studies on the use of recommender systems.

Attendees at the conference include important members of the academic community as well as key industry figures such as Krishna Bharat, Principal Scientist for Google who delivered the keynote address.

Professor Barry Smyth is a leading researcher and practitioner in the area of intelligent recommender systems for the Internet and Mobile Internet, and has continued to play a leading role in the latest research and innovation in this fast moving technology sector. As a co-chair of this year’s conference he will lend his commercial expertise and years of research experience both from an academic and industry point of view to each of the presentations.

Under Prof. Barry Smyth’s guidance, ChangingWorlds has devised a special technique for intelligent content recommendation over the mobile Internet. ClixSmart Recommender automatically generates multiple types of mobile data recommendations, which are personalized based on each subscriber’s individual interests and needs, on the item currently being viewed by the user and also on the preferences of the virtual community of other subscribers sharing similar interests and usage patterns.
